Emily Jean "Emma" Stone was
born on November 6, 1988 in Scottsdale, Arizona to Krista Jean Stone (nee
Yeager), a homemaker & Jeffrey Charles "Jeff" Stone, a
contractor company founder and CEO. Stone is of Swedish, German and British
Isles descent. Stone began her acting career in her youth as a Valley Youth
Theatre member in Phoenix, Arizona. She made her stage debut in the play of
Kenneth Grahame "The Wind in the Willows." As a teenager Stone
performed in of numerous stage productions before she made the decision to make
acting her profession. According to the official account, she made a PowerPoint
presentation, backed up by Madonna's "Hollywood" and also titled
"Project Hollywood", in attempt to persuade her parents to let her
drop out of school and relocate to Los Angeles. The pitch succeeded and she and
her mom moved to LA after completing her education at home, while she spent the
day auditioning. She made her TV debut in 2004, when she was cast in the role
of Laurie Partridge on the VH1 reality show In Search of the Partridge Family.
The show resulted in a variety of small TV performances in the years that
followed. Her film debut was as Jules in Superbad (2007) and following a string
of success, her main part as Olive in Easy A (2010) established her as a major
star. She was a student at Xavier College Preparatory, Phoenix, Arizona.
Although she's known as a redhead, her real hair color is blonde. Judd Apatow
was the one who suggested she change her natural hair shade to Superbad (2007).
It was so popular that she decided to keep it. At age 15 she persuaded her
parents she could make the move to Hollywood. She achieved this by making a
PowerPoint presentation titled Project Hollywood. At 11 years old she started
her acting career at the Valley Youth Theatre, Phoenix, AZ. There, she starred
in 16 stage productions as well as in the comedy improv troupe. Caylee Cowan
was also an actor at Valley Youth Theatre.
